About John A. Day

John is a civil trial lawyer with the Law Offices of John Day, P.C., with offices in Brentwood, Murfreesboro, and Nashville.  He practices personal injury and wrongful death law of all types on behalf of plaintiffs. His blog, Day on Torts, is viewed thousands of times every month by lawyers seeking to learn more about Tennessee tort law.

John was elected to fellowship in the American College of Trial Lawyers at the age of 46 in 2002, and served as a member of the College’s Board of Regents from 2017-2021.  He currently serves as Secretary of the College.

John has been included in the last every issue of Best Lawyers in America since 1993, and has won a Nashville  “Lawyer of the Year” on three occasions.  He is listed in five separate categories in Best Lawyers.  He has had an “AV” rating from Martindale since 1993.

In addition to his full-time job of representing clients, John has authored several books had over 60 articles published in peer-reviewed journals.  He has also given over 350 continuing legal education speeches on a variety of topics, mostly tort and trial law.

John is married to Joy Day.  The couple lives in Brentwood.  Daughter Sarah lives in Minneapolis.  Son Michael lives in Atlanta.  Daughter Kate is a sophomore in high school.  The family enjoys travel and spending time at their cabin on Tims Ford Lake, where John has logged over 30,000 miles riding his Sea Doo.
